The same reason black ppl remained in slavery for 400 yrs.  It's mind control, nobody likes to be oppressed, but the oppressor knows how to control and use the victim and will continue to do so until the victim finds the strength to leave, or someone comes along and rescue them.  Mental slavery is the most powerful form of slavery.

Who ever said fear is the reason why they do not want to leave an abusive relationship may want to forgive me if I disagree. Women have always had an attraction for the socially forbidden or morally unavailable. Anyone has the will to change anything they do not want and women are no exception.
