Alaba Excel Abbey, a key figure in Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa's campaign team in Ondo State, has met a tragic end as he was assassinated at his residence in Supare Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area.

Abbey, who served as a ward coordinator for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot-Soldiers (LACO-SF), was reportedly shot dead in front of his house. He had recently acted as the returning officer for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 10 during the party's primary election.

The news of Abbey's assassination was confirmed by his younger brother, Mr. Samuel Abbey, who expressed shock and sadness over the incident.

Meanwhile, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot-Soldiers (LACO-SF) has strongly condemned the gruesome murder of Abbey, calling on security agencies to ensure the safety of its members.

Kayode Fasua, the spokesperson for the campaign organization, highlighted Abbey's active involvement in campaign activities until his untimely death.

David Ajobiewe, the Director-General of LACO-FS in Akoko Southwest Local Government, described Abbey's killing as a significant tragedy, emphasizing his non-violent nature and lack of history of disputes.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the brutal killing.

"The state command is aware of the incident (killing) but investigation is ongoing to unravel all that happened," she affirmed.
